ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Climate Change & Environmental Coordination Romina Khurshid Alam has said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif wants the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) free from single use plastic bags under the single use plastic (prohibition) regulations 2023.

In a meeting with the Senior Vice President of Metro AG (global) Ivonne Julitta Bollon, Romina said that that plastic pollution was the biggest threat for our generations to come.

Ivonne Julitta Bollon apprised the coordinator that Metro has completely banned the single use plastic/polythene bags respecting the prohibition regulations, during their sale/purchase operations.

The Coordinator on Climate Change said that on the direction of prime minister, letters for strict implementation and execution on plastic bans have been sent to all the provinces.

The both sides also discussed to hold an expo of the products made up of recycling techniques.
