ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Ambassador of Egypt to Pakistan His Excellency Tarek Dahroug held a meeting with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Friday and exchanged views on matters of bilateral interest.

During the meeting, the prime minister lauded the efforts of the Egyptian ambassador to promote cooperation between Pakistan and Egypt in diverse fields.

Highlighting the fraternal relations between Pakistan and Egypt, the prime minister underscored his resolve to strengthen cooperation in all fields of common interest, in particular trade, investment, energy, education and climate change.

The prime minister felicitated Egypt on the assumption of the Presidency of COP-27.

Shahbaz Sharif drew attention to the continued egregious violations of human rights in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He underlined the importance of peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

The Egyptian ambassador thanked Shahbaz Sharif for receiving him and felicitated him on assuming the Office of the Prime Minister.

The envoy also conveyed cordial greetings from the leadership and people of Egypt.

His Excellency Tarek Dahroug added that the Egyptian leadership was looking forward to the prime minister’s participation in the CoP-27 later this year.

While conveying warm wishes to President Fattah El-Sisi, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif renewed invitation for the Egyptian president to undertake a visit to Pakistan at an early date.
