ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed grief over the loss of precious lives in a fire incident in Bangladesh.

“My heartfelt condolences & most sincere sympathies are with the government and people of Bangladesh,” the prime minister said in a statement on Monday.

On Sunday, 49 people died and hundreds were injured after a fire sparked a huge chemical explosion at a shipping container depot in Sitakunda area of Bangladesh’s Chutogong City.

Officials said that the toll is expected to rise, with some of the over 300 people injured are in serious condition.
