ASTANA, Kazakhstan: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif held talks with the President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Astana.

A wide range of topics including political relationship, trade and investment, military cooperation and regional issues were discussed.

Shahbaz Sharif congratulated President Aleksandr Lukashenko on Belarus’ membership of the SCO underlining that this would further strengthen the organization.

The two leaders noted the positive growth in all aspects of Pakistan-Belarus relations over the past decade and reaffirmed commitment to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and economic and trade relations.

The prime minister briefed on Pakistan’s policy of economic revival through export-led growth, strengthening of public finances, and attracting investment from friendly Countries.

They also discussed global and regional developments and reviewed progress on various aspects of work under the SCO.

The prime minister shared Pakistan’s efforts and desire for a peaceful and stable region.

According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
