ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday performed the ground-breaking of Islamabad Metro Bus link between Peshawar Morr to New Islamabad International Airport.

Talking to the media persons at ground breaking ceremony, PM Nawaz Sharif said development projects were vital to give an impetus to the economic growth as these lured the industrialists to invest in the country.

The prime minister said modern road infrastructure also facilitated the peasants to transport their products to the markets.

Nawaz Sharif regretted the delays that were witnessed by different projects in the past, saying the government injected the necessary resources to revive and complete these projects.

Furthermore, he said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government believed in the speedy completion of development projects without making any compromise on their quality.

Referring to the metro bus project, the prime minister said earlier it was not part of the new Islamabad airport project, adding it was included with a view to facilitate the access of commuters to and from the airport. He said the metro bus project would be completed with the new airport simultaneously.

Meanwhile, the prime minister was briefed about the metro bus project as the Chairman National Highway Authority (NHA) told him all contractors were mobilized on all the four phases of the project.

The prime minister directed that motorway like quality should have been ensured in the construction of the road.

The Metro Bus link will be completed by the NHA in four Phases with a total length of 25.6 Kilometers, 09 Bus stations, 12 bridges and 11 underpasses.
