ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday appreciated Japan’s role in the socio-economic development of Pakistan, and stressed on further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, infrastructure development and human resources development.

In a meeting with a Japanese delegation led by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Taro Kono at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad, Khaqan said the government and people of Pakistan had deep warmth and affection for the people of Japan.

The prime minister said Pakistan, therefore, attached great importance to its relations with Japan and was keen to enhance cooperation in all areas.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi expressed satisfaction over the renewed Japanese investors’ interest in Pakistan, and noted there were enormous opportunities available in Pakistan in the wake of sustained economic turn around and improved security environment.

The prime minister also recalled the latest JETRO survey on ‘Japanese Business in Asia’ that had declared Pakistan as the leading Country in regard to positive sale profits and future business expansion.

​The Japanese foreign minister in his remarks also underlined the need for further enhancement of Pakistan-Japan bilateral cooperation in various fields. He also acknowledged the efforts of Pakistan for bringing lasting peace and stability in the entire region.

The Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Taro Kono reached Islamabad last night for a two-day visit. Meanwhile, he also met the Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Qamar Javed Bajwa today to discuss the bilateral relations as well as all other issues of mutual interest.
