ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday urged all the parliamentarians to actively take part in legislative business and put forward their proposals for legislation to serve the public interest.
The prime minister said this in a meeting with Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad who called on him at PM Office in Islamabad.
The minister apprised the prime minister on parliamentary affairs and the business of the National Assembly.
The prime minister appreciated the role of Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and said that it was immensely encouraging to see the parliamentarians actively participating in the legislative business.
Sheikh Aftab briefed the prime minister on Sustainable Development Goals program of the government and the progress in its implementation was also reviewed during the meeting.
Separately, the Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman also met Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and congratulated him on being elected as the prime minister. He also extended invitation to the prime minister for visiting Gilgit Baltistan which the prime minister accepted.
The Chief Minister apprised the prime minister on the status of various ongoing development projects related to Gilgit- Baltistan.
The prime minister said that the government is determined for socioeconomic uplift of Gilgit Baltistan and will continue to extend it’s all out support in this regard. He also assured for establishment of a LPG Air Mix plant at Gilgit that would benefit around 10,000 consumers and would significantly reduce usage of forest wood.
