ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday visited the Dasu Hydro-Power Project, a landmark progress to stabilize the economy of Pakistan by providing low-cost hydel electricity besides triggering a new era of socio-economic development.

Talking to foreign engineers and workers at the site after reviewing the construction work of the project, the prime minister said that the Dasu Dam will generate low-cost clean energy that will help reduce inflation and promote industrialization in the Country.

The prime minister said that industrialization will greatly contribute to the progress of the Country through wealth creation.

The minister said that hydro-power generation should have been given priority to produce cheap electricity. He said that costly electricity causes inflation.

Imran Khan said that he would appreciate the workers and consultants working on this complex project.

The phase one of the Dasu Hydro-Power Project will be completed by 2025 which will add 2,160 megawatts of electricity to the national grid. Its capacity will increase to 4,320 megawatts with the completion of its second phase by 2029.

The work on the project been accelerated by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) incumbent government as per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan to ensure better utilization of the Country’s water resources.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the work on the project is continuing by adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
