ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Special Assistant on Information Minister and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will protect the interests of Pakistan and its people during his upcoming visit to the United States.

Imran Khan will undertake a three-day visit to the United States from July 21-23, 2019 on the invitation of the US President Donald J. Trump.

In a series of tweets on Friday, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the prime minister will be accompanied by a small delegation during his visit to the US.

Dr Firdous lamented that the past rulers used to protect their personal financial interests during the foreign visits. She said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is embarking upon the visit of the United States in a public style unlike the previous rulers who used to undertake such visits with planes filled their courtiers.

The special assistant said that the departure of the genuine public prime minister through a commercial flight is an example for Mughlia styled governments of the past.

It is pertinent to mention that this would be the first summit-level engagement between Pakistan and the United States since both leaders – Imran Khan and Donald Trump – assumed their respective offices.

During the visit, Prime Minister Imran Khan and the US President Donald Trump would have wide-ranging interaction at the White House on July 22, 2019 covering bilateral and regional matters.

The prime minister will also be meeting prominent members of the US Congress, corporate leaders and opinion makers as well as members of the Pakistani diaspora.
