ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate Sir Syed Express passenger train on July 3.

Talking to reporters outside the Parliament House in Islamabad on Monday, Sheikh Rasheed said that Pakistan Railways has started functioning properly as 34 new trains have been run by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government. He said that out of newly inaugurated trains, 10 are running in profit.

The minister said that Pakistan Railways is on upward trajectory, and soon they will overcome the deficit.

The railways minister said that there is a plan to extend Lahore-Sargodha railcar up to Mianwali.

Sheikh Rasheed said that retired train drivers are being rehired to reduce pressure on drivers and avert accidents. He further said that temporary labour appointment employees will be regularized.
