His address comes at the backdrop of India’s illegal move to scrap the Special Status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, triggering widespread protests across the World against India’s unlawful act.
It is worth noting that Prime Minister Imran Khan was expected to address the nation on August 18 on the completion of one year of his government; however eventually he decided against it in the view of deteriorated situation in the IOK.
Since the abrogation of Article 370 by the Indian government (under which the Jammu and Kashmir enjoyed a Special Status), the imposition of restrictions and detention of Kashmir leaders, Pakistan has been very proactive on the diplomatic front and remains engaged with the World Community to apprise them on Kashmir situation and is urging them to persuade India against resorting to illegal steps.
Imran Khan himself also held telephonic conversations with World Leaders including the US President Donald Trump, and endeavored to make them realize the looming security crises in the region in the wake of India’s insane policies.
