ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has called upon citizens to declare their assets before June 30, 2019 to take the Country out of difficult economic situation.

In a televised message to the nation on Friday, the prime minister said that national debt increased from Rs 6000 billion to Rs 30,000 billion in last 10 years, and now half of the tax money is being spent on interest payments of these loans.

The prime minister said that we are stuck in debt trap and we have reached here due to corruption and tax evasion. He reiterated the resolve to tackle the menace of corruption.

However, he added that cooperation of the people is needed in tax collection. He said that unless public and the government do not cooperate with each other, the debt trap will not end.

Imran Khan urged the people to avail the asset declaration scheme in order to take the Country out of debt trap. He said that the asset declaration gives the people a golden chance to declare their stashed wealth within and abroad, gold and other assets.

The prime minister said that Rs 5500 billion are needed to be collected in taxes for the next year. He said that Pakistanis are a generous nation and they have a history of contributing massively in national calamities. He said that if the citizens cooperate, a sum of Rs 8000 billion can be collected each year.

Imran Khan said that the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) has complete a record of all assets of the people and it is better if the people declare their assets without facing any difficulty.
