ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday performed the groundbreaking of the Rawalpindi Ring Road project.

The 38.3 kilometers long ring road will comprise of six lanes and interchange will also be constructed on it.

The Rawalpindi Ring road project will help ease traffic flow in Twin Cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. It will also provide job opportunities and promote economic activities.

While addressing the groundbreaking ceremony, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that mega development projects initiated by the incumbent government will bring progress and development in the Country by promoting economic activities.

The prime minister said that stressed the need to ring-fence the major cities for the protection of cultivable land. He said that he has ordered the relevant authorities to produce master plans of all mega cities at the earliest.

Imran Khan said that the Rawalpindi’s Nullah Lai project is also of significant importance for the Twin Cities, therefore, soon a plan will be finalized for its construction.

Meanwhile, in a Twitter statement, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that timely actions to contain the current account deficit is bearing fruit as the deficit shrank to only US$ 0.5 billion in February 2022, which is US$ 2 billion lower than recorded in January and is so far the lowest monthly deficit in the ongoing fiscal year 2021-22.

Imran Khan said that Pakistan’s exports are close to all-time high and imports are 21% down from their peak while a strong growth is being witnessed in the large scale manufacturing.
