ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday launched the Spring Tree Plantation Drive 2022 in Islamabad, urging the entire nation to actively participate in the drive for better future of the next generations.

“Every family should grow at least five plants,” the prime minister said while addressing the Drive Launching Ceremony.

The prime minister said that the government’s 10 billion Tree Tsunami Program is aimed at protecting our future generations. He said that Pakistan has been blessed with the weather conditions which are suitable for every kind of plant.

Imran Khan expressed the confidence that the target of planting 540 million trees for the spring 2022 will be achieved.

Unfortunately, he added, that Pakistan is among the 10 Countries which are most vulnerable to Climate Change. He said that Pakistan’s policy of combating Climate Change effects has been widely acknowledged in the world.

Earlier addressing the Ceremony, the Special Assistant on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam said that under the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami Programme, over 1.4 billion trees have so far been planted. He expressed the confidence of achieving the target.

Malik Amin Aslam said that Pakistan’s successful model of addressing the Climate Change challenges has been appreciated in the world, and various Countries have expressed interest to replicate it.
