MIANWALI, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday visited Mianwali  wherein he formally inaugurated the Model Police Stations of Punjab as part of his vision of bridging the gap between citizens & police by bringing the people’s friendly reforms in Police Culture.

Under the initiative, 29 Model Police Stations have been set up throughout the Punjab province where CCTV cameras have also been installed to monitor the performance of police.

A helpline 8787 has also been established for registering complaints and a Superintendent of Police (SP) will be appointed in every district for dealing with complaints.

While addressing the police personnel at City Police Station in Mianwali, the prime minister said that setting up of Model Police Stations is important for the public welfare.

The prime minister said that police should provide sense of protection and peace to the public. He said that it is job of the police stations to facilitate the people as complainants come to this facility for redressal of their issues. He added that when police performs better, it changes the destiny of the Country.

Earlier on his arrival along with the Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar at the Model Police Station, the Punjab police presented a guard of honor to the prime minister.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Shoaib Dastagir briefed the prime minister about the working of Model Police Stations.

Separately, Prime Minister Imran Khan also inaugurated the Huawei ICT Lab at NAMAL Institute Mianwali.

The prime minister was briefed about the state of the art information and communications technology facility at NAMAL Institute.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
