HARIPUR, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan visited the National Radio & Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) at Haripur on Monday to inaugurate the production facility of first-ever indigenously developed ventilators in Pakistan.

The Minister for Science & Technology Fawad Chaudhry, the Minister for Energy Omar Ayub, the Prime Minister’s Focal Person for COVID-19 Dr. Faisal Sultan, the Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)Lt. General Muhammad Afzal and senior officers were also present on the occasion.

The Managing Director NRTC Brigadier Tofique Ahmed gave a detailed briefing to the prime minister about the history, sectors of research and development, products, and services of the NRTC.

The MD briefed that the NRTC is indigenously providing services including communication equipment, E-policing, Electro-Medical equipment, hardware & software.

The prime minister commended the initiative taken by the NRTC and the Ministry of Science & Technology for the first-ever indigenously produced ventilator. He said that it’s a landmark achievement for Pakistan and congratulated the entire team.

The prime minister emphasized that we have abundant talent in our Country to take us to self-reliance in new technological innovation and our government will strongly support any initiative to harness the potential of our youth.

Imran Khan said that our approach in response to COVID-19 pandemic and adopting smart lockdown while keeping the economy afloat has been widely acknowledged, our focus will now remain on comprehensive health reforms.

Later, the prime minister inaugurated the ventilator production facility and visited various sections of the NRTC.
