ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday formed a Committee to finalize proposals for promotion of remittances and facilitation of Overseas Pakistanis.

While presiding over a meeting of the government’s economic team in Islamabad, which discussed proposals to increase remittances and offer incentives to Overseas Pakistanis, the prime minister said Overseas Pakistani were are an asset of the Country.

Imran Khan said the government wanted to provide every possible facility to the Overseas Pakistanis to send their incomes to their relatives in Pakistan through legal channels so that the Country’s economy gets strengthened.

The prime minister formed a Committee consisting of the Advisor on Finance Hafeez Sheikh, the Special Assistant Zulfikar Bukhari, the former Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen, the Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood and representatives of the State Bank of Pakistan to prepare recommendations to finalize proposals for promotion of remittances and facilitation of Overseas Pakistanis.

In addition, the prime minister directed the Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Shabbar Zaidi to ensure resolution of fair issues of builders and constructors on priority basis.

The prime minister said not only 40 industries were linked to the construction sector but promotion of that sector would create numerous job opportunities for the youth. He said removal of hurdles in the way of promotion of construction sector was among top priorities of the government.

Imran Khan also directed to accelerate the process of utilizing government lands for Naya Pakistan Housing project.
