ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has felicitated the newly elected President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi.

In a tweet on Saturday, Imran Khan said that congratulations to brother Ebrahim Raisi on his landmark victory in Iran’s 13th Presidential Elections.

The prime minister said that we look forward to working with him for further strengthening our fraternal ties and for regional peace, progress, and prosperity.

The 60-year-old Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi won Iran’s 2021 Presidential Election held on June 18 by a landslide.

The Iranian Deputy Interior Minister Jamal Orf said that 28.6 million Iranians participated in the presidential election, and with around 90% of the votes counted, Ebrahim Raeisi i garnered over 17.8 million votes.

His rival Mohsen Rezaei secured 3.3 million votes, Nasser Hemmati 2.4 million votes, and Amir-Hossein Ghazizadeh-Hashemi won almost one million votes.
