ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed for giving topmost priority to the provision of relief to domestic electricity consumers and uninterrupted and affordable power supply to industries.

Chairing a meeting on the Energy sector in Islamabad on Wednesday, the prime minister expressed satisfaction over reforms being made in the Energy Sector.

The prime minister emphasized that the reforms should be designed keeping in view the future needs and they should be long-lasting.

The meeting discussed the improvement in production and transmission of electricity, making energy mix better and environment friendly, and the proposed projects of generating cheap electricity.

In addition, the meeting was informed on the progress in ongoing projects.

The prime minister was also apprised about the agreements made by the previous governments and their negative effects on the economy and ordinary people.

Imran Khan was also briefed about the steps taken for relief of the common man and the industry despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, the Minister for Power Division Omar Ayub Khan, the Minister for Economic Affairs Khusro Bakhtiar, the Minister for Industries and Production Hammad Azhar, the Special Assistant on Power Tabish Gouhar, the Special Assistant on Petroleum Nadeem Babar, the Special Assistant on Revenue Dr. Waqar Masood, and relevant Senior Officers.
