ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has issued directives to all ministries to initiate special measures for senior citizens and disabled persons.
In this regard, the Ministry of Communications has begun the implementation on directives of the prime minister, taking various steps to facilitate senior citizens and persons with disability on all Highways and Motorways across the Country.
The Ministry has written letters to the Inspector General National Highways & Motorway Police (NH&MP) Allah Dino Khowaja and the Chairman National Highway Authority (NHA) Captain (retd) Sikander Qayyum, apprising them about the decision taken to make the public transport on Motorways users friendly for senior citizens and disabled persons in accordance with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The Inspector General NH&MP has been requested to issue strict instructions to the concerned public transport owners to allocate special seats for senior citizens and disabled persons in their buses and make the buses convenient for their usage.
Likewise, the Chairman NHA has also been asked to make necessary arrangements especially at toiler facilities, restaurants and tuck shops, like special parking and ramps to facilitate senior citizens and disabled persons.
The Ministry of Communications will provide wheel chairs for this purpose.
