ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has appointed Lieutenant General Nadeem Raza as the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) with effect from November 27, 2019.

It may be recalled that notification for the reappointment of General Qamar Javed Bajwa as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for another three-year tenure has already been issued on August 19, 2019.

 

Following his appointment as the CJCSC, Lt General Nadeem Raza called on Prime Minister Imran Khan at his Office in Islamabad.

Earlier in the day, the COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa also met the prime minister.

Well informed sources said that three names including Lt General Sarfraz Sattar, Lt General Humayun Aziz, and Lt General Nadeem Raza were on the seniority list, and the prime minister picked the last one.

Lt General Nadeem Raza will replace the CJCSC General Zubair Mahmood Hayat who is set to retire on November 28, 2019.
