ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Caretaker Prime Minister Justice (retd) Nasir-ul-Mulk has emphasized that special attention should be paid to ensure safety and security of political leadership and the general public attending corner meetings.
In a meeting held at Governor House in Lahore to review law & order and the preparations being made to ensure peace and security during general elections 2018, the prime minister appreciated the efforts being made and the coordination exhibited by law enforcement agencies (LEAs) to ensure law and order in the Punjab province.
The prime minister said that with election day in sight, greater efforts, vigilance and coordination is needed to ensure smooth and peaceful completion of the polling process.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Minister Punjab Hasan Askari Rizvi, the Home Minister Shaukat Javed, the Minister Local Government & Community Development (LG & CD) Zafar Mehmood, the Minister Information & Culture Ahmed Waqas Riaz, the Chief Secretary Akber Hussain Durrani, the Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police Kaleem Imam, the Provincial Election Commissioner Zafar Iqbal Hussain and senior government officials.
The Chief Secretary Punjab Akber Hussain Durrani made a detailed presentation on the arrangements that have been made by the Punjab government to ensure security and maintain law and order during the electioneering process in the province.
Akber Hussain Durrani also apprised the prime minister about the successes made in disrupting planned terrorist activities in various parts of the province.
