ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Defence Pervez Khattak has said that Pakistan highly values its relations with Bulgaria, and emphasized the need to further enhance the bilateral defense cooperation.

Talking to the Defence Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Georgi Panayotov who met Islamabad on Wednesday, Pervez Khattak said that being at the geo-strategic crossroads in their respective regions, Pakistan and Bulgaria share similar challenges and opportunities which demand closer coordination and cooperation between them.

Pervaiz Khattak stressed the need to call upon the international community to facilitate Afghans in finding a peaceful and durable solution to the Afghan issue.

The defence minister said that it’s time for the world to stand by the Afghan people in full support and solidarity.

The minister said that Pakistan is committed to promote regional and global peace and will continue to play its part.

The Bulgarian Defence Minister Georgi Panayotov appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for peace in Afghanistan and said that both Bulgaria and Pakistan should work together to achieve the common goal of peace and security in the region.

Georgi Panayotov expressed the desire to further strengthen the defence industrial cooperation between the two Countries and pledged his government assurance and commitment to work closely with Pakistan to this end.

Pervaiz Khattak assured him of Pakistan’s support and continued efforts for closer defense ties.
