ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan and Japan on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) enabling Pakistani skilled labour to work in 14 different sectors in Japan.

The MoU was signed by the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Secretary Aamir Hasan and the Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan Kuninori Matsuda.

The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari and the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s Special Adviser for Foreign Affairs Sonoura Kentaro were also present in the Signing Ceremony.

While speaking on the occasion, Zulfikar Bukhari said that it’s an excellent opportunity for Pakistanis as Japan will require 300,000 skilled labour in next three years.

Zulfikar Bukhari said that they will also persuade Japan to invest in the tourism sector.

The Japanese ambassador said that this MoU will open new avenues of bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Japan. He said that under the new frame work, the public relations will be promoted.

Ambassador Matsuda further said that Japan is interested in promoting tourism in Pakistan.

Furthermore, he said that Japan is facing the scarcity of manpower and labour. He said that there are numerous job opportunities for Pakistanis in Japan.

Meanwhile, the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s Special Adviser for Foreign Affairs Sonoura Kentaro met Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad, and discussed various issues related to Pakistan-Japan relations.
