ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain on Friday said that Pakistan wanted to benefit from the energy reserves of Uzbekistan.

While talking to an Uzbek delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Ulugbek Rozikuloy at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Friday, the president said that the Muslims of Central Asia were very close to our hearts.

The president said that Pakistan and Uzbekistan enjoyed deep rooted religious, cultural and geographical ties. He said that the two Countries would continue with their joint efforts in fighting extremism.

President Mamnoon said that Pakistan was desirous of enhanced cooperation with Uzbekistan in all sectors of development.

Mamnoon Hussain further said that terrorism would never rear its head again in Pakistan due to strong actions by the government. He said that the government, armed forces and people of Pakistan had bravely fought and rooted out the menace of terrorism.

The president also conveyed his felicitation and best wishes to the newly elected President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The Uzbek deputy prime minister said that Pakistan`s friendship with Uzbekistan was a precious asset for his country. He also expressed his firm resolve for extending cooperation with Pakistan.
