MUZAFFARABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Wednesday announced that Pakistan would observe Solidarity Day with Kashmir on Friday (April 6).

While addressing the Joint Session of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly and AJK Council in Muzaffarabad held to express solidarity with people of Indian Occupied Kashmir, the prime minister said India would have to abide by the UN resolutions on Kashmir, and also asked United Nations to send observer missions to Indian Occupied Kashmir.

“Pakistan strongly condemns Indian brutality in Occupied Kashmir,” he said, adding the Indian occupation forces had been unleashing wave of terror on innocent Kashmiris for over seven decades but failed to suppress their voice.

Khaqan Abbasi said the International Community must take notice of the Indian forces human rights violations in Occupied Valley. He said Pakistan had asked the United Nations to appoint a special envoy on Kashmir to assess the situation there.

The prime minister emphatically said Pakistan stood by Kashmiri brethren in their just struggle for right to self-determination. He said the people of Kashmir must be given their right to self-determination, and Kashmir issue to be resolved as per aspirations of Kashmiri people.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said Kashmir was an internationally recognized dispute and its solution lied in a plebiscite according to the UN Security Council resolutions.

Furthermore, he said Pakistan would continue political, diplomatic and moral support to Kashmiri brethren. He expressed the confidence that the Kashmiri people would come out triumphant in their just struggle and India would have to bow down to the international laws one day.

Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
