ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Pakistan accords high priority to health sector and is taking all possible steps to improve healthcare infrastructure and to provide quality medical care to the people.

While talking to a delegation of Royal College of Physicians (RCP), UK headed by its President Professor Jane Dacre at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Friday, President Mamnoon appreciated the RCP’s partnership with Pakistani doctors, and said that projects like ‘Future Hospital Pakistan’ are going to set an example of patient care with mutual efforts.

The president emphasized that together we can make a difference by mitigating challenges to public health. He also urged the delegation to further enhance cooperation with the Pakistani doctors.

President Mamnoon commended the efforts of RCP in organizing a conference on advance patient care in Pakistan. He underscored that such endeavours will be beneficial to further raise the standards of medical education in the country.

Mamnoon Hussain congratulated the delegation on quincentennial celebration year of the RCP. He also wished them a pleasant and comfortable stay in Pakistan.

The delegation included Ian Bullock, Professor Ali Jawad, Professor Aamir Ghafoor Khan, Professor Javed Akram and Steve Crump.

Senior officials of the Ministry of National Health Services and senior officers of the President’s Secretariat were also present on the occasion.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
