ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Ministry of Commerce in Islamabad will organize a Trade and Investment Conference in the Sri Lankan Capital Colombo on February 24, 2021.
The Conference will coincide with the visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to Sri Lanka.
Prime Minister Imran Khan accompanied by a high-level delegation will reportedly pay a two-day visit to Sri Lanka on February 23-24, 2021.
During his visit, the prime minister will participate in the Trade and Investment Conference.
Imran Khan will also meet the Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and his Sri Lankan Counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa in Colombo.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Prime Minister’s Adviser for Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood said that a delegation comprising prominent businessmen will also attend the Trade and Investment Conference.
“We hope that this will further deepen the excellent relations between the two Countries & will further enhance trade through the Pakistan-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement,” Abdul Razak Dawood said.
Sources said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will also address the Sri Lankan Parliament.
However, according to media reports, Imran Khan’s scheduled address to the Sri Lankan Parliament has now been canceled due to “COVID-19 constraints”.
