ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Caretaker Finance Minister Dr Shamshad Akhtar has expressed Pakistan’s strong resolve to keep up efforts on counter financing of terrorism.

While presiding over a meeting in Islamabad on matters related to Financial Action Task Force (FATF), Dr Shamshad Akhtar said that Pakistan has improved institutional mechanisms for handling anti-money laundering & combating the financing of terrorism.

The finance minister said that the coordination between Central Bank, Banking institutions and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) have also been strengthened to curb money laundering and terror financing.

Dr Shamshad invited suggestions to further strengthen measures and put in place a strong implementation mechanism in this regard.

The Caretaker Foreign Minister Abdullah Hussain Haroon and the National Security Advisor (NSA) Lt. General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua were also present on the occasion.

The participants underscored Pakistan’s resolve to further strengthen the anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism.
