ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Railways Senator Azam Khan Swati has said that Pakistan Railways will soon earn Rs 30 billion a year through its freight services.

While addressing a News Conference in Islamabad on Monday, the minister said that railway stations will be turned into business points on the pattern of international standards.

Senator Azam Swati assured that the rehabilitation of damaged tracks will be carried out to make train travel safer.

The minister also pledged to digitize the ticketing process of railways in a month. He said that the automation in ticket booking will help to reduce corruption.

The railways minister said that steps will be taken for the welfare of labour class; however, strict action will be taken against corrupt elements in the organization.

Commenting on valuable railways property, Azam Swati said that any piece of land will not be sold but it will be utilized for making revenue. He said that Royal Palm will be outsourced to make it profitable.
