ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan and Indonesia on Saturday signed four Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad to boost bilateral cooperation in energy, trade, and training and education.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and the Indonesian President Joko Widodo also witnessed the signing of MoUs.

The Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Khan Leghari and the Indonesian Minister for Energy and Mineral Development signed the first agreement which deals with the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and POL products from Indonesia.

The Minister for Commerce and Textile Muhammad Pervaiz Malik and his Indonesian Counterpart signed the second agreement which is about additional Protocol on Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) for 20 new tariff lines.

Likewise, the Secretary Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and the Director General for National Export Development of Indonesia signed the third MoU which is related to trade facilitation while the fourth MoU was signed between Foreign Service Academy and Centre for Training and Education of Indonesia in the field of training.

Meanwhile, the prime minister and the Indonesian president held talks during which Pakistan-Indonesia bilateral ties and matters regarding mutual interests came under discussion.

The two leaders agreed to give further impetus to bilateral relations by enhancing cooperation in different sectors.

Earlier when the Indonesian president arrived at the PM House, he was accorded a very warm welcome. The National anthems of both Countries were played.

The Indonesian president was presented a guard of honour by the smartly turned out contingent of the three services. Joko Widodo reviewed the guard of honour.

Later, a three-ship formation of JF-17 Thunder led by Wing Commander Kashif Kamal flying at an altitude of 500 feet presented salute to the visiting dignitary with marvelous display of flypast, emitting bomburst.

The Indonesian president was also introduced to federal ministers present during the ceremony.
