ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Interfaith Harmony Noorul Haq Qadri has said that Pakistan is committed to open Kartarpur Corridor in November 2019 regardless of the tense situation over Kashmir issue.

While addressing the International Sikh Convention in connection with 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak in Lahore on Saturday, he said that the initiative of Kartarpur Corridor was taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan to facilitate the Sikh Community to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur.

Noorul Haq Qadri said that the government will provide all necessary facilities to the minorities at their sacred and worship places.

The minister said that the message of Baba Guru Nanak was the message of humanity, peace and love; which needs to be promoted in the world.

In his remarks at the convention, the Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision of opening Kartarpur Corridor is a great initiative of promoting interfaith harmony.

Firdous Ashiq Awan said that Pakistan is committed to ensure the provision of all basic rights to the minorities as per the teachings and principles of Islam. She emphasized the need for defeating the extremist mindset in the society.

Dr Firdous said that he oppressed people of Occupied Kashmir consider the Sikh Community as their strength. She said that every follower of Baba Guru Nanak will become voice of innocent people of the Indian Occupied Kashmir.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
