BEIJING, China: Pakistan, China and Afghanistan have agreed to push forward the reconciliation process as well as strengthen cooperation in counter-terrorism.

The understanding was reached when foreign ministers of three Countries including Khawaja Asif, Wang Yi and Salahuddin Rabbani met in Beijing on Tuesday as part of Trilateral China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue.

The trilateral talks were held as part of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s initiative for trilateral consultations between Pakistan, China and Afghanistan for strengthening of relations and developing cooperation between the three Countries.

While addressing the trilateral meeting, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan supports One Belt One Road, adding that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will enhance regional connectivity.

“We welcome China’s step for trilateral meeting,” Khawaja Asif said.

The minister further said that Pakistan wants peace in Afghanistan, adding that restoration of peace in the region is our common goal. He said that our borders are attached and therefore, peace is our common mission.

Khawaja Asif said that future peace and development is in the interest of all of us.

In his address, the Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani said that terrorism is increasing in the region, and that there is no difference between good and bad Taliban.

The Afghan foreign minister said that terrorists and non-state actors pose serious threat to One Belt One Road.

“We will continue zero tolerance policy against terrorism,” Salahuddin Rabbani expressed the resolve.

Earlier on the sidelines of the dialogue, the Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif also had a bilateral meeting with his Chinese Counterpart Wang Yi, and discussed the bilateral relations between Pakistan and China with special emphasize on CPEC.
