ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Dr. Arif Alvi has emphasized that Pakistan and Brunei Darussalam need to diversify economic and trade relations for the mutual benefit of the two sides.
While talking to the outgoing High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam Brigadier General (retd) Dato Mahmud Saidin at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Wednesday, the president underlined the need for increasing trade and economic relations between both brotherly Countries.
The president said that Pakistan and Brunei Darussalam enjoy excellent relations which were deeply rooted in shared values, religious commonalities as well as shared aspirations for global peace and stability. He added that Pakistan has a strong agriculture sector and Brunei can benefit of Pakistan’s expertise in this sector.
President Arif Alvi expressed satisfaction over the fact that the Pak-Brunei Investment Company, a joint venture between the government of Pakistan and Brunei Investment Agency, is playing a major role in the economic progress of Pakistan by providing an entire range of advisory services as well as financial support to viable business projects.
Dr. Arif Alvi highlighted the role of Pakistani doctors who are contributing to the well-being of the people of Brunei Darussalam.
The president also appreciated the services of the outgoing High Commissioner for strengthening bilateral ties as well as promoting economic relations between the two Countries.
The president emphasized the need for promoting people-to-people contacts as well as cultural exchanges that would greatly help in bringing the two brotherly Countries further closer.
Brigadier General (retd) Dato Mahmud Saidin highly praised the services of Pakistani doctors who have been doing a commendable job for the welfare of the people of Brunei, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
