ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has underlined that robust and cordial relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan are inevitable for perpetual peace, stability, and economic prosperity in the region.

In his address at the Pakistan–Afghanistan Trade and Investment Forum 2020 in Islamabad on Monday, the prime minister said that better trade and economic ties are in the interest of the people of both the Countries.

Imran Khan said that no one else has made as many endeavors to bring stability in the war-stricken Afghanistan as Pakistan did. He again reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm determination to continue to play its role for peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The prime minister said that the Afghan people must make their own decisions rather than the external forces decide their fate. He said that Pakistan is strictly adhering to its policy of respecting the decisions of the Afghan people.

Furthermore, he said that peace in Afghanistan is important for the promotion of trade and economic activities in the region which will bring prosperity and provide job opportunities to the people.

The prime minister said that we are making efforts to enhance connections with the business community of Afghanistan in order to benefit from each other’s experiences and give impetus to the trade and economic relations.

In his remarks at the Seminar, the Speaker of Afghan Wolesi Jirga Mir Rahman Rahmani said that Afghanistan values the contributions of Pakistan to the Afghan peace process.

Mir Rahman Rahmani said that the Pak-Afghan relations are deep-rooted in common culture, faith, and values. He stressed the need for enhancing parliamentary contacts between the two Countries.

The two-day Seminar on the “Pakistan–Afghanistan Trade and Investment Forum 2020” is aimed at realizing the significance of bilateral trade and linkage and regional growth

In the Seminar, parliamentarians, trade communities of the two sides, and line ministries will deliberate on ways and means to open up new vistas of cooperation and boosting bilateral trade between Islamabad and Kabul.
