ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday said friendly relations between Pakistan and India were imperative for peace, security and economic development of the region.

While talking to High Commissioner-designate of Pakistan to India Sohail Mahmood at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, the president emphasized that Pakistan seeks friendly relations with all neighbours including India on the basis of equality for peace in the region.

The president said Pakistan wanted to solve all the issues through dialogue including the core issue of Indian Occupied Kashmir. .

Furthermore, he said international community and human rights organizations should take notice of gross human rights violations in the Indian Occupied Kashmir. He said India was violating resolutions of the United Nations which was further complicating the issue.

Mamnoon Hussain said the diplomatic community should be apprised about the Indian brutalities in Indian Occupied Kashmir. He said the world was getting aware of the situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir but there was a need to further highlight this issue.

Mamnoon Hussain expressed his optimism that there were chances of some positive changes in the international politics which might result in the resolution of the issues of Kashmir and Palestine according to the wishes of their people.

In addition, the president said Indian spy was involved in terrorist activities inside Pakistan which was condemnable.

President Mamnoon directed the high commissioner-designate to appraise the international community about the stance and concerns of Pakistan. He also advised him to highlight Pakistan’s stance on water disputes at the global level.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
