Government of PakistanPAC Chairman Shahbaz Sharif trying to save corrupt politicians, alleges PTI govt

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led federal government has asked the Chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Shahbaz Sharif to resign from his post, alleging that he is trying to save certain elected representatives involved in billions of rupees corruption from NAB investigations.

While briefing the media persons about the decisions taken by the Federal Cabinet meeting held with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Chair in Islamabad on Thursday, the Information Minister Fawad Chaudhary said that the Cabinet expressed concerns over the conduct of the PAC Chairman Shahbaz Sharif.

Fawad Chaudhry said that Shahbaz Sharif should tender his resignation from the Chairmanship of PAC on moral grounds.

The minister said that during the Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan also gave directions to get vacated the government residences and hostels vacated from the occupants which are not entitled to it. He regretted that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Mian Raza Rabbani and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-NN) leader Mushahid Ullah Khan are illegally occupying the Ministers Enclave.

Fawad Chaudhry told that the prime minister also sought report from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) as to what steps have been taken to make buildings in the Federal Capital such as hospitals, schools and commercial buildings accessible to the handicapped persons.

Referring to the recently launched Sehat Card Scheme, Fawad Chaudhary said that in the next phase these cards will also be given to the artists and the journalists. He said the salaried class will also be included in the scheme.
