ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Dr Arif Alvi has said that only plebiscite can lead to a peaceful solution of the long standing Kashmir dispute.

While addressing a ceremony in connection with “Kashmir Solidarity Hour” at Presidency in Islamabad on Friday, the president said that observing Kashmir Hour today shows Pakistan’s commitment for Kashmir cause.

The president reiterated nation’s resolve of supporting the people of the Indian Occupied Kashmir in their struggle for right to self-determination. He said that Kashmir is not just a piece of land for Pakistan but it’s a relationship of faith and humanity.

Dr Arif Alvi said that the valley of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing communication clampdown and Indian forces are committing the worst kind of human rights violations there.

President Arif Alvi said that He said over 100,000 Kashmiris have been martyred since 1948 even children have sacrificed for freedom of Occupied Kashmir.

Dr Arif Alvi warned the world that India is ruled by a fascist regime and nuclear assets of India are not secure in their hands. He said that Pakistan desires a peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute; however, he added that Pakistan will respond befittingly to any misadventure by Modi’s government.

The president urged the youth to work hard to strengthen Pakistan economically as strong Pakistan is important for freedom of Kashmir.

Earlier, sirens was blared at 12 noon and national anthems of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir were played. Children from different schools were also present on the occasion.

They were carrying flags of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir and chanting slogans for freedom of Kashmir.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
