ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: There will be local holidays in the Federal Capital on coming Saturday and Monday on the eve of the OIC Foreign Ministers Extraordinary Conference, the Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed announced on Friday.

However, the federal government has decided not to suspend the mobile services in the Capital.

The interior minister said that the historic OIC Conference is being held in Islamabad after 41 years which will dilate upon the emerging humanitarian crises in neighboring Afghanistan.

Pakistan is hosting the 17th Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers on Sunday (December 19, 2021) to discuss the humanitarian needs of the people of Afghanistan.

Besides the OIC Member States, representatives from the United Nations, International Financial Institutions, some International and Regional Organizations, and non-OIC Members have been invited to attend the Conference.

The OIC Secretary-General Ambassador Hissein Ibrahim Taha has already arrived in Islamabad.

Talking to the media, the OIC secretary-general said that the Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers will provide an opportunity to Muslim Countries to discuss ways to help Afghan people, facing a looming humanitarian crisis.

Meanwhile, all arrangements have been finalized to welcome the foreign delegates of the OIC Foreign Ministers Extraordinary Conference in Islamabad.

The Constitution Avenue and all the prominent places in the Twin Cities along the route of foreign dignitaries have been well decorated.

Lights installed along the Constitution Avenue give a panorama of colures to viewers while the building of the Parliament House has also been done up accordingly.

Special teams to receive the OIC Foreign Ministers and other dignitaries have been formed.
