LAHORE, Pakistan: The Information Minister Barrister Ali Zafar on Tuesday said general elections would be held on time, and there was no fear of polls being postponed.
Talking to media representatives in Lahore, Ali Zafar said responsibility lied on them to ensure free and fair elections in the Country.
The minister said merger of Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was a historical step. He said the Implementation Committee had been formed for establishment of basic infrastructure in FATA.
Barrister Ali Zafar said citizens would get equal rights through FATA reforms. He said elections would be held in FATA within a year.
The information minister said initiatives were being taken to give voting rights to overseas Pakistanis.
Talking about the water issue, the minister said non-construction of dams caused the emergence of water problems. He said issues halting construction of dams needed to be resolved.
Ali Zafar said flawed delivery system of electricity was the reason behind load shedding.
In reply to a question, he said law would be followed in the case of former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
