ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday underscored the enormous potential of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) region, and referred to the commonality of interests, common cultural heritage and geographical proximity of ECO Countries.
In a meeting with the ECO Secretary General Halil Ibrahim Akca called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad, the prime minister emphasized Pakistan’s commitments to achieve ECO objectives as envisioned in the ECO Charter.
The prime minister expressed the hope that the outcomes of the 13th ECO Summit in the form of Islamabad Declaration and ECO Vision 2025 would further enhance regional integration, connectivity and help advance economic prosperity in the region.
Nawaz Sharif also appreciated the role of the ECO secretary general and his team for their preparatory work of the 13th ECO Summit in Islamabad.
The ECO secretary general thanked the prime minister for hosting the ECO Summit and for the excellent arrangements.
Halil Ibrahim appreciated the prime minister’s vision for regional connectivity and greater regional integration.
The secretary general reaffirmed the role of the ECO Secretariat for fully implementing of ECO initiatives and moving the Organization forward for the benefit of its member states.
