ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will leave for China on Friday (May 12, 2017) to participate in the ‘Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation’.

The two-day One Belt One Road Conference will be held in Beijing from May 14 to 15.

The invitation to attend the One Belt One Road Conference was extended to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif by the Chinese President Xi Jinping.

“I look forward to my visit to China in May 2017 to participate in the “Belt and Road Forum” for International Cooperation (BRF) at the invitation of President Xi Jinping”, the prime minister had said on February 28 in a meeting with the visiting Executive Vice Foreign Minister of China Yesui Zhang in Islamabad.

High-ranked representatives from around 28 Countries are expected to attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

Sources said that the Federal Ministers and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif will accompany the prime minister during his five-day China’s visit which aims to complete the energy projects as soon as possible under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship project of ‘One Belt and One Road’.

Sources said that following the end of his China’s visit on May 16, the prime minister will leave for Hong Kong for another days.

Later this month, the prime minister is also highly expected to visit Saudi Arabia to attend the US-Arab and Islamic Summit in Riyadh, for which an invitation was extended to him on Tuesday on behalf of the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz.
