UPPER DIR, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that he has not been involved in any sort of corruption; rather, he has saved Rs 168 billion in various development projects.

In his address to a public gathering in Upper Dir on Saturday after inaugurating the 8.5-kilometre-long Lowari Tunnel project, the prime minister said that people of the Country will not accept this accountability which is, in fact, an exploitation.

Nawaz Sharif said that the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) created hurdles in the process of developing by staging sit-in, and people rejected them in elections. He hoped that these elements will also be defeated in the next elections.

Talking about various development projects, the prime minister said that his government has launched development projects all over the Country to improve the socio-economic condition of the people.

The prime minister said that work on a number of power projects is in progress to overcome load-shedding. He said that Golen Gol Hydropower Project in Chitral will be completed soon.

Nawaz Sharif also announced the establishment of a Women University in Chitral. He also said that Chitral will be developed like Karachi and Lahore.

In addition, the prime minister announced that besides construction of Hazara Motorway, Chakdara-Chitral Road will be constructed on the patron of motorway.

Earlier, the prime minister inaugurated the Lowari Tunnel project which will provide Chitral an all-weather connectivity with rest of the Country.

The tunnel is located on Nowshera-Mardan-Malakand-Chakdara-Chitral National Highway (N-45). The project includes construction of two tunnels (8.5 km and 1.9 Km), access roads and 12 bridges (35 km).
