ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday underscored the importance of expanding bilateral trade between Pakistan and Bahrain.

While talking to the Foreign Minister of Bahrain Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmad Al Khalifa in Islamabad, the prime minister expressed the confidence that bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bahrain would continue to grow.

The Bahraini foreign minister accompanied by a high level government delegation and members of the royal family of Bahrain reached Pakistan on Sunday. His visit highlights the growing bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bahrain.

During his meeting with the prime minister, the Bahraini foreign minister conveyed the special greetings of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa to him.

The foreign minister informed the prime minister that the relations between Pakistan and Bahrain have been upgraded to Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) and the first session of the JMC is being held in Islamabad later today in which both countries will have comprehensive discussions to expand diplomatic, economic, trade, strategic and cultural ties.

The prime minister welcomed the important step of establishing the JMC and said that this sends a strong message that Pakistan values its ties with Bahrain.

Nawaz Sharif also appreciated the performance of Pakistan’s ambassador to Bahrain Javed Malik.
