ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is looking forward to partner with brotherly Muslim Countries for mutually beneficial economic development for which Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) can play a vital role.
While talking to the OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef Ahmad Al-Othaimeen in Islamabad on Tuesday, the prime minister emphasized that OIC has an important role to play at the regional and international levels.
The prime minister thanked OIC and brotherly Muslim Countries for expressing solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir for the realization of their right to self-determination.
Nawaz Sharif proposed that the report of Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of OIC that visited Azad Jammu Kashmir and the Line of Control (LoC) last month should be disseminated widely to highlight the suffering of the Kashmiri people.
The prime minister said that that regional peace and prosperity are his government’s priority. He assured the OIC Secretary General of Pakistan’s active engagement with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and supporting its goals and objectives.
In his remarks, the OIC Secretary General thanked the prime minister for his warm welcome and stated that Pakistan is an important member of OIC. He said that Pakistan has contributed tremendously towards regional peace and security through this forum.
Dr. Yousef Ahmad Al-Othaimeen congratulated the Prime Minister on successfully hosting the 13th Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) Summit recently held at Islamabad.
The meeting was also attended by Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, Director Asian Affairs of OIC Ambassador Ali Abolhassani Shahreza, and other senior officials.
