Government of PakistanNawaz approves revival of National Council for Conservation of Wildlife

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister has approved the revival of National Council for Conservation of Wildlife (NCCW), a premier wildlife policy-making forum that was made redundant during the last government.

“Prime Minister approves in principle, revival of National Council for Conservation of Wildlife,” said a statement issued by the PM House on Monday.

The NCCW will have provincial representation and based in the Ministry of Climate Change at the federal level. Its revival of NCCW will help Pakistan meet international obligations on controlling illegal wildlife trade and promoting conservation.

It is another major policy reform made by the pro-green prime minister of Pakistan, the statement added.

Last week, the first-ever national green day was celebrated across the Country including in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan & Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) under the Prime Minister’s Green Pakistan Programme. The prime minister inaugurated the national green day on February 9 aimed at planting 100 million trees all over the Country.
