ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday said in the Country, national security was being put at the stake for political gains.

Speaking at the National Assembly in Islamabad, the prime minister said Indian media misinterpreted and scandalized the specific part of Nawaz Sharif’s interview for its personal interest and gains. He said unfortunately they had been towing Indian media’s policy.

The prime minister said Nawaz Sharif’s specific statement was the part of a bigger interview.

Khaqan said Nawaz Sharif needed not to take the certificate of patriotism from anyone. He said no one had the authority to issue the certificate of traitor or patriotism to anyone.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said today aggressive speeches were delivered in the Parliament.

“I am sure none of these have read this news,” he said, adding one should have thought before levelling accusations and misbehaving.

The prime minister said a person who made the Country an atomic power was being labeled as a traitor. He said Pervaiz Musharraf, Rehman Malik and others had also given such statements in the past.

“If you want to form a Commission we have no problem with it you must go ahead,” he added.

While expressing his view in the Lower House, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said according the prime minister, Nawaz Sharif’s statement was twisted but National Security Committee (NSC) unanimously issued declaration.

Qureshi said the prime minister honestly tried to resolve issue; however, Nawaz Sharif rejected the NSC declaration. He said Nawaz Sharif’s interview was exaggerated and scandalized by Indian media.

The PTI Vice Chairman said the Jamiat Uleme-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman also expressed reservations. He said Nawaz Sharif’s statement had strengthened and reinforced Indian stance. He said even the allied parties of the government were not supporting PML-N over Nawaz Sharif’s statement.
