ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain on Thursday said the country’s defence was in safe hands with the armed forces and nation fully prepared to thwart any evil designs of the enemy.

Talking to Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Rashad Mahmood, who paid a farewell call on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, the president lauded his services and contribution in making operation Zarb-e-Azb a success.

The president termed General Rashad Mahmood “a true professional soldier”, and said he was instrumental in increasing the efficiency and professionalism of the armed forces.

President Mamnoon Hussain said that Pakistan’s armed forces are one of the best in the world and have served the country well even in times of national emergency and calamity.

General Rashad Mahmood thanked the president for his support and guidance during his tenure as CJCSC.

Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif hosted a farewell reception in Islamabad for CJCSC General Rashad Mahmood who is set to retire from his service on November 27.
