LONDON: The Prime Ministers Special Assistant on Human Rights and Women Empowerment Mushaal Hussein Mullick attended a meeting of cross-party British Parliamentarians convened by the Chairperson APPG on Jammu & Kashmir Debbie Abrahams MP at a virtual platform from London.

Besides British Parliamentarians, members of the civil society and human rights organisations also participated in the virtual debate, which circled around the state of human rights affairs in Jammu and Kashmir.

Mushaal Mullick briefed the Parliamentarians about human rights abuses by the Indian government in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). She particularly raised the issue of gross violations of human rights against women and children in IIOJK. She urged the international community to take notice of the treatment of minorities, particularly the forced conversions of the Christian and other minorities under the RSS ideology, inside India.Mushaal Mullick briefs UK Parliamentarians on situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir

Mushaal Hussein Millick said that Kashmiris were deeply concerned over attempts to alter the demographics of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. She said that the world wasn’t paying enough attention to the resolution of the dispute of Jammu & Kashmir, lingering on the UN agenda for the last 75 years. She called upon the international community to uphold international human rights obligations and help implement the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions on Jammu & Kashmir. She strongly urged the British Parliamentarians to play their role more actively in halting human rights violations and repealing draconian laws including demographic engineering in IIOJK.

Mashaal Mullick said that her husband Yasin Malik, the chairman of Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) was a political prisoner and had been languishing in the Tihar Jail, India for years. Their young daughter has been deprived of meeting her own father and she was seriously concerned about the health and well-being of Yasin Malik. Ms. Mullick feared that Yasin Malik would be awarded a death sentence against his appeal scheduled for hearing early next month. She appealed to the UK Parliamentarians to raise their concerns over this injustice.

Mushaal Hussein Mullick thanked the participants for inviting her to speak to the British Parliamentarians and human rights activists through APPG-Kashmir forum. She also thanked them for expressing their solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri people.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
