ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister National Health Services Aamer Mehmood Kiani has said that a Mother and Child Hospital is being established by the Ministry of National Health Services in Bhara Kahu, Islamabad.

In his address at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the hospital in Bhara Kahu on Monday, Aamer Kiani said that the 40-bedded Mother and Child Hospital will have state of the art facilities. He said that the hospital will provide 24 hours gynae and obstetrics services to over 100,000 population of the area directly and 500,000 population from other areas indirectly.

The minister said that the work on the project has been initiated by Pak PWD which will be completed by December 31, 2019. He said that the Mother and Child Hospital was a demand of the inhabitants of the rural areas of Islamabad and its objective to lessen the ever increasing load of patients on the PIMS and Federal Government Poly Clinic Hospital in the urban area.

Aamer Kiani said that we recognize the role of mothers in building a healthy nation, and mother and child is; therefore, on the top of our agenda in health. He said that the first 1000 days in a child’s life are of critical importance.

“Our mission is to provide best facilities to mother and child,” he said.

The health minister further said that we have vowed to make Islamabad a model city in health so that the same could be replicated in other parts of the Country.
